Busy installing a Sram Truvativ Noir & GXP BB on a Morewood Shova 2005 with 73mm BB

Sram instructions say - 73mm BB - No Spacers

If I do that there is a 5mm space on the drive side - just perfect for the 2 x 2.5mm spacers...

So I installed the 2 spacers all seems good - crank is pretty smooth no free play and swings freely but doesn't go more than 1 or 2 revolutions if I spin them hard (still may to be run in , grease is packed fully tight).

After googling I realise the Truvativ cranks/Gxp bb are loaded onto the non-drive side bearing and there should be a gap on the drive side - but Mine seems fine as is , although the drive BB seal may be touching the crank which may not be so good!

Anyone have any experience with Truvativ Noir + GXP BB installing?

Any other tips regarding running Truvativ Noir cranks is welcome!!!

They were expensive - not keen to cock them up... :)

Did you check / measure the width of your BB?

I've installed / taken apart Noir Cranks / GXP bb's (also Hope BB with GXP Adapter), followed the instructions about the spacers and all went well. All I can say is double check the measurements / specs then following the instructions should work.

Update:

Took out 1 spacer and all seems perfect - left the other one in because 5mm gap seemed wrong , will a 2.5mm gap between crank and bb be fine?

Crank now spins freely and smoothly

I can also confirm a pipe wrench/monkey wrench is a perfect external bb removing spanner - esp if you strip the lame aluminium bb spline keyways by tightening instead of loosening when trying to remove a BB with the correct spanner...

Actually if you have a pipe wrench I honestly wouldn't bother buying a BB spanner , just go easy with the immense leverage of the monkey wrench when tightening

Measured with a vernier - My shova BB is Exactly 73mm
