Well, starting a tad earlier only defeats the purpose if all you wanna do is a night ride. Adding an hour before would have been some extra km's for the legs and a good warm up :)

The night ride is kinda the idea ;) I dont mind riding on my own during the day but it is probably not the best of ideas to mission in the mountains on your own in the dark. So I thought why not get some buddies together!

You are welcome to do an hours ride before and then meet up with us :D

BMT is a triathlon/bike shop in Stellenbosch - it is located in Uniepark (on your way to Jonkershoek)and they started organizing night rides a couple of weeks ago. Not sure how many riders etc. Will join you guys once I have invested in some lights.

Oh ja, next to Spar, Ive seen the shop before. Ill pay good money to see them do the G-spot singletrack on a TT bike

I'll meet you at the Engen at 18h30. I'll be the sweaty guy that has already done an hour before. Black bike, white fork and saddle.

You have my number.

Cheers

Cycle Addiction also do some night rides on Thursday evenings in Lourensford during winter - not sure if they are up and running yet...

nope, not up and running yet, spoke to Malan last week.

You need to be a club member or get a R40 permit.

I dont mind paying but paying to ride in the week and on the weekends is getting a bit much. I have many trails to explore!

Must have something to do with the fact that I am a roadie (or a closet mtbiker :D) and use to getting on my bike and pedaling where I want for a long as I want without paying a cent. Inhaling exhaust fumes and dodging traffic....

I dont quite understand that... mtbiking is supposed to bring you closer to nature (which is free), gives you fresh air (free), have fun (free), has a culture of helping others on the trial (free) and being carefree ... but almost everywhere you go you have to pay to get all the free stuff?

Yeah, this club stuff is not something for everyone.

This Thursday night ride is for free (apart from buying your wife flowers) and not club attachments whatsoever. Whoever is keen to join can do so. 18h30 at the Engen on Thursday.
