ok, so the local shimano agents don't bring it in... and it is for a different purpose (the gravity and gnarly bikes)...

 

but it has feelings too and doesn't like to be left out, haha!

 

So the revised list, best to worst

 

XTR (900 series)

Saint (purely put here cos its 800 series... dunno where it is in the pecking order, although I think it belongs at the top haha)

XT (700 series)

SLX (600 series)

Deore (500 series)

Alivio (400 series)

Acera (300 series)

<what goes here is reserved specially for Game bikes>

 

As for SRAM... it's hard to draw direct equivalents like saying that XT = X9... cos I personally feel that X9 is better than XT but not quite XTR... ya know...

 

so I would say that SRAM is like the half sizes... fits in between the Shimano ranges, with XX at the top. But hey... Saint is still the business in my books
