The routes have been fine tuned and improved where possible, but are basically the same as in 2010. The 50 km route will take riders through various terrains with scenic views and includes a section of the challenging Damon 4×4 trail with its typical mountainous Karoo vegetation. It will also lead riders through private vineyards, jeep tracks and river crossings. The first section of the route is fast, although always against a slight gradual incline. The midsection of the route follows a jeep track through vineyards which includes one or two sandy sections. Proceed over typical Karoo hills and end with a good but ride-able climb (new for 2011), rough descent and a fast single track, followed by a fast gravel section to the finish. This route “bites” at the end and will be enjoyed by the experienced and fit rider.

The 35 km route shares the first and last section of the 50km route. The route also shares the jeep track and typical Karoo hills of the 50km route this year. The “heartbreak hill” near the end and steep descents have been excluded this year and will be suitable for the intermediate rider, although moderate technical ability skills are still required.

The 10 km route is an easy, non-technical, untimed ride.

I honestly dont see the need for that last climb. Im sure they can find some odd 15km loop there somewhere and then you just finish with the same last climb as the shorter route. That climb looks fairly challenging from a distance as well.

Just a thought! Like the race anyway so i'll be back

Anyone riding this year's 50 - climbing doesn't look too bad but above sugests otherwise?

The race is actually very nice and fast. The last climb is just stupid. Impossible to ride and takes 10min to climb out with bike in hand. Other than that it is a awsome event with great hospitality
