I have a 2007 large Mongoose tyax with a SR Santour XTC spring shock with preload and I've cranked it all the way and it doesn't feel any different to the "neutral" setting, is there something wrong? Wat should I do to it? Or, wat should I set it to? I am 2m tall and 90kg and I enjoy the very technical stuff...

Please keep in mind I'm a student and have a limited budget

first off... welcome to the hub!

second... before the others lambaste you for your post heading (and sorry if I'm being a tech Nazi), but the term "Spring Shock", is similar to "coil shock"...

and this is a coil/spring shock:

(these puppies are used for the rear suspension on freeride and downhill bikes)

ok... again sorry for the nazi-ism...

So your coil fork... are you wanting to crank the pre-load up cos it's bottoming out? Or do you just thing that it's "too soft"?

I bet he is bottoming cos his sag is like 900% going by the fork he mentioned, and the fact he is a big-boy. The XCT (not XTC - stop taking those little pills.. they bad for you!) is the entry level model. Dont see many folks tuning it, so not sure if the internals (the spring) can be upgraded or not. More info on fork model will be appreciated.

Hahahaha sorry, I'm still very new to the bicycle world, used to dabble in motorcross so I got a warped opinion, my Mistake its the XCMs not xtc( been coordinating a deal wit the giant xtc for a friend...) Yes I find I sometimes tend to bottom out or can't preload enough....

what's the sag on the bike Kwashi? (sit on the bike, fork drops into it's travel. measure in percentage of total stroke.)

The XCM can be updated with higher rated springs. I've seen a few threads on other forums where this has been done, and quite successfuly, meaning, the guys were pretty darn happy with the fork, despite it being considered a 'low-end' brand, whatever that means anyway.

which model XCM is it? i see Suntour has v2, v3 , RLO, MLO and a gajillion other models. it's quite something their naming schemes :P
