Hi Guys

Need some advice on a fork for my new mtb build.

So far I have looked at the Rockshox SID Race, however I do not know what the competing Fox shock would be (100mm) and the cost thereof (can get the SID for about 4,500 new).

Thanks lads

quite a couple of threads on the hub with this discussion, but lets get some background information, what bike do you have and what kind of riding do you do?

What I am going to say however is that the Rock Shox Reba is more on par with the Fox, the RS just needs less maintenance than the Fox. I am not fond of the sid, its not as plush as the Reba, but the Reba is a tad heavier. I prefer the Reba though its stronger, stiffer and gives a much better ride quality especially over the ruff stuff.

I used the search function but didn't seem to find a thread that gives an outright answer.

Bike = yeti ARC

RIding = XC (will be used for racing)

Looking to spend about 5k, and would prefer a fork that can accomodate a lock-out.

Also has to be white! LOL

Both RS and Fox will give it to you in white , and then you can pimp it just search the hub for decals ;)

if its purely for racing, and you dont mind paying the 3 monthly service fee's I would go for Fox over Sid, if your stingy like me and only want to service the fork once every 6 months or so, i'd go with SID.

Ah thanks Covie! SID it is then! Now I just need to find some turquoise decals.

I have 2 SID forks. One is a 2009 TEAM and the other a recent RLT. The RLT utilizes the QR15 system, the other a normal qr (9mm). Their caracteristics differ. The QR15 is a more stable fork. Feels more like a REBA. The 'normal' qr feels more wobbly in singletrack. The QR15 feels more accurate. I think RS did the qr15 thing to the later RLT to stiffen it up a bit. (Or it can be marketing). Just something to think about.

Ps. I am fully aware that some other guys on the hub will not agree with me.
