Hello,

I was the comm at the race.

The data that SS recieved from SAS was corrupt and the results would not pull through. Because of this i would not sign off on the results. The only results that we could confirm was the overal and senior men & sub vets.( if you know anyone called Andre that raced he was the problem)

From what i can understand it had to do with about 140ish online entries that had no data which then screwed up the results due to the seeding that had happened.

It did not have anything to do with spectrum or the organizers of the event.

What i would like is feedback on the marking as there was different veiws??

I thought the marking was quite ok, managed to find the finish, even though I was knackered Edited by Laulil

If the truth be known the route marking was okay if you were following the leaders. The leaders, on the other hand, had more problems. I was not alone in missing 3 turn-offs. The best marking is augmented by chalk arrows on the ground. (IMH but informed O.) I also suggest that you send an experienced rider, that has never seen the route, through the course. If he makes it, it is a good sign that the course is properly marked.

I had no problems with the 40k route, where there was a split the correct route option was marked.

On the 40K route after you crossed over the plank that was laid down over the fence on top of the one hill and going down the other side where you turn left after the short rocky decent I saw some of the front guys coming down the hill where they went straight up in stead of turning left.

Hi,

PaulC, The results will be out as there is always a manual back-up and will still count towards the SAS seeding.

I can understand waiting for the results being a rider myself, but i also want the correct results and there is prize money involved for those who rode quickly enough.

Apologies if this is already known, but who won in the end, and what was the winning time.

As for the event itself, i consider that one of the better rides around J'burg. Well done. The only issue was right at the top of the first climb the grass hid the route slightly, but otherwise all marking were good.

Someone prior mentioned water tables. I will confess i missed the first one completely and was wondering whether there were any. I believe it was at the 40km split, but must have had my head down at the time. Good event. Thanks.

Thanks. Would you be so kind as to post the sub vet results (top 3)?

I thought the route markings were fine. I never once had to stop to think which wa to go. There was always bunting, an arrow, or a marshal to point out the correct direction. One of the better races I have done in terms of route markings. I did the 60km route.
