fandacious Posted August 25, 2011 Share So Spring league is here 3 road races 1 Hill climb1 Crit R880 - thats a 10% increase on last year.
NeverEnder Posted August 25, 2011 Share Very disappointing for the entry fee That hill climb is only a 2 km sprint up a "roller". Why don't they make it a challenge like a TT up Du Toits or something. Might wait for Summer league...
Jaco-fiets Posted August 25, 2011 Share Im not riding league but i have to say its kind of a dissapointing league calender. Give the guys at least 4 or 5 road races. The criterium and hill climbs are great add on's but they are not really road races.
FBSP Posted August 25, 2011 Share Spring League, what an absolute joke, everyone should boycott it, pathetic attempt at trying to organise some racing. Not untypical Cyclelab!
Jaco-fiets Posted August 26, 2011 Share Well they hav not done badly in the past organising the spring league. The lady at cyclab, Eulogy, really puts in a effort and is quick to respond to any queries. Just dont know what is happening this year. Apart from the Tour de worcester, westcoast express and durbanville race, which other races were there last year in spring league? Cant remember now
Tankman Posted August 26, 2011 Share R880 ÷ 3 = R293 per race! The crit & climb doesn't count as races. No organisation involved either, racetec just slaps their timing mats down. Last year we had 4 races and the CTM crit, Klein Joostenberg was included but thanks to WPCA not knowing when WP champs will be, not included this year. Where is the crit going to be, CTM is not available this year?

Icycling Posted August 26, 2011 Share We need more road riders on the PPA committee - please road riders get your nominations in for the AGM (within the next 2 week) the committee really need roadies - must admit - female committee members would even be better currently no females or people of colour on the committee! If you wanna complain get involved - this is your perfect opportunity.

SeanMort Posted August 26, 2011 Share I'm not going to enter. The league entry fee Vs the races chosen is a weak offering. One has to question the cost of entry against what you would normally pay to ride as a funrider, even though there are additional costs of running the league including prize purses etc. Plus you have sponsors ?? It just don't make sense. I'd love to see the balance sheet of this organisation.

Cant remember now Yeah, not too badly, but I remember at one of Spring league races (a year or two back ?) when the organisers marked off the hot spot incorrectly. We were informed that it would be around half-way into the race, and I think it was actually at the 20Km mark (stand to be corrected). When the bunch came upon the markers everyone looked at each other as if to say wtf ?!? Some went for it, and some said it can't be. The organisers did apologise though
Icycling Posted August 26, 2011 Share You need to be a paid up member. Full out a nomination form and get seconded by a paid up member. Go to the A g m - if their more than 6 nomination (I think) then their will be a vote by the members present at the a g m.

Jaco-fiets Posted August 26, 2011 Share On the tour the worcester thread it seems that this race might be cancelled. If this is the case then you have to be stupid to enter springleague. 2 races and a climb and crit. What a joke
SeanMort Posted August 26, 2011 Share They'll chuck in another league specific road race to make it up. 2 laps of Paardeberg circuit bring back any memories last time this happened ?
