Nail in tyre - yank the bugger, or let it be?

Hello all...

 

Some advice would be appreaciated!

Don't want a flat somewhere off in the mountains if I could've avoided it.

 

Please have a look at the grainy photos supplied...

I have converted ordinary Conti Speedkings into tubeless, sitting on a Cane Creek Zonos wheelset.

 

The nail has penetrated through one of the knobs, which seems ok - but then there is about a 2cm(?) piece of it that has penetrated the actual tyre, before exiting again...

 

Do I leave it - and hope that nothing goes wrong - or yank it - and possibly open up a hole?

The last thing I want is slime spurting out all over the place - but if that happens - then what?

 

Replace the entire tyre?

Buy those plugs?

Am I making a mountain out of a mole-hill Embarrassed?

Seems to sit between the rubber and the casing, pull it out, should be fine. If you are running tubeless you got even less to worry about.

So - deflate tyre - yank it - use bomb to re-inflate - and hope for the best?

 

 

 

Going to go and try it now...

First time I'll be using a bomb.

 


So - if any of you happen to hear a small explosion that appears to be emanating from Central Paarl - that would be me...LOL

Don't deflate, just pull it. if you got sealant in the tyre, and if it is needed to fill a hole (which I doubt), you'll need air pressure...

 

put the nail at the bottom of a wheel rotation (so the sealant can seep to it), and pull. Heeeeeeeve---ho

I did make a mountain out of a mole-hill....

 

Nail is out.

No noise - no hissing - no leaking - no nothing.

 

Good times...

 

 

Speaking of mole-hills - since I'm off today, think I'll give Paarl Rock a bash Big%20smile...
