nickc Posted September 19, 2011 Share what do you guys think of the canondale lefty ultimate?do you think it will last or will it be more in the shop for repairs? Hi Zork - are you talking about the Lefty itself or a complete bike? The Lefty is a brilliant fork and as long as you maintain it regularly (easy) you will not have any problems. kosmonooit Posted September 19, 2011 Share Awesome bike! I ride Scalpel 2000 (2004 model), only the frame and rear shock is original, love the bike, served me well. Also have a Prophet with latest 140 Lefty Carbon Max. Both Al frame, but Ultimate is Carbon (?) You need to follow a few basic procedures with the Lefty in terms of regular maintenance, been discussed here a few times, although the Lefty Fan Club here are happy to share the love any time... nickc Posted September 19, 2011 Share yes the scalpel ,8.5 kg's Brilliant bike - has won the Epic before so their is no question about if it can do it or not. The lefty needs regular lubrication (10 mins) and inspection of the rubber boot to make sure its not allowing water and junk in. Bearing migration reset once in a while - also easy to do. Spinnekop Posted September 19, 2011 Share Zork The Scalpel is one of the best bikes out there.Cannondale are one of the few companies out there still doing some R&D on their own and not copying other brands. I have done the Epic and the Joberg2C on a Scalpel. Awesome bike.Had on BOTH stage races not ONE mechanical. Ons puncture on the Epic....that was it. You won't be disappointed!!
