smerds Posted October 10, 2011 Share Probably a stupid question but I have no idea ……. and looking for answer? On my bike I have a shimano ultergra 6700 front derailer which is a clamp on. The derailer is fixed to the clamp with an allen key bolt. Can this derailer be used on a frame which is braze on ...? What do I need to look for to know if it can be used … ? Longbarn Killer Posted October 10, 2011 Share From what you have described, the deraileur that you have is not a clamp on, it is a braze on. It has been attached to your bike with a braze on adaptor. Braze on adaptors are clamps that allow you to attach a braze on derailuer to a frame that does not have a braze on bracket.
