8848 Posted October 12, 2011 Share Hi all, My wife is looking for wheels for her roadbike. She is a pretty good recreational cyclist (3.30 for 94.7 - 3.40 for argus etc), she does a combination of road and triathlon (from sprint to ironman). we are unsure what wheels to get her. we have ruled out the Zipp 404 firecrest and 303 due to price and are looking at the American classic 58 or the American classic 420 Aero. any thoughts on these or other options? some seem to think the AC 58 will be great, others reckon not ideal for a lady. advice please? Cheers
Zac.A Posted October 12, 2011 Share Well thinking AC is great, because they're amazing and relatively well priced.I've got the C58's and the bearings are amazingly smooth and they also ride very well. They are however, a bit on the heavy side at 1,8kg's i think. (excl. tyres & cassete.)Not sure about the 420's...
8848 Posted October 13, 2011 Share Thanks Zac.A - anyone else?
Thomo Posted October 21, 2011 Share 420's are a great all round wheelset at a reasonable price. They are light and offer the advantages of a semi deep section rim too.C58's must be great too, but there is a weight penalty.
Iwan Kemp Posted October 21, 2011 Share What is your budget? What is she currently on? For someone riding those times a good wheelset will not be wasted and will make a SIGNIFICANT difference.
