Hi Gunston

Mr Gripen told me about the drafting so I assumed that will influence the rules of which bikes are allowed etc.....

Another guy told me that registration opens on Sunday at 6AM (as well as over the weekend)....

But yes, thats why I asked.... Surely some hubbers must know the organisers?

It was a non draft race last year - Pornstar was there on his Black Spade Machine.

Just maybe chec with someone - they usually have a number collection on the Saturday - maybe just ask someone to chec for you then.

It's an ITU race - which means it may be draft legal. I'm also confused. I'm hoping for Wetsuit + TT bike. At this stage, it looks like I will need to take both bikes with.. bit of a mess.

Ok guys does anyone know the organisers as they are not answering their email as given on the website...

I need to know:-

1.) Can we wear wetsuits? The last BSG in Harties they allowed all amateurs to do so even though the temp was above the norms. I hope it will be the same as the recent rains probably ensures a siff dam. Also with the pro and amateur races being split it should be possible?

2.) Although the race is draft legal, will my IM bike setup be allowed? (long tri bars etc)

3.) Will they allow "crates" inside the transition area? With the change of rain being good, I would appreciate to keep my running shoes etc nice and dry and it sucks having to remove our crates

On the website the following:

Rules for the 07h00 age groupe olympic distance event

1.) you will get your chip and race number the morning at the venue. (dont bother with the BSG chips etc) Therefore you dont need to register on Saturday

2.) Non-drafting event and that is official. All TT bikes allowed as long as you have more than 8 spokes

3.) Water temp will decide if wetsuits are allowed or not but if it keeps raining then there is a good chance for it to be allowed.........

Gripen volunteered to measure the water at the dam for us every monring from now on until raceday (at 05h00AM sharp everymorning) and post the results here. Thanks for that.

Interesting days racing, started with a tannie in a seriously bad mood at registration telling the queue of 15 or so that we are late (more than an hour before the race started - I guess she wanted us all to make the trip to Pta West the day before). When one guy wanted to enter, she mumbled that this is the last year they will allow this...whatever.

The race itself was not bad at all - great swim and run. Traffic on the cycle was not a problem at all and the route was well marshalled. Only problem with the cycle was taking us through an unnecessary out and back section up and down a hill with some nasty speedbumps.

I enjoyed watching the pros race later on in the African cup ITU race. I did think we could have given the international competitors a better venue (perhaps at the coast somewhere?).
