What bike to buy?

I new to road bikes so Im not sure whats best here.

 

I am looking at a

 

Raleigh RC 6000 9sp 2006 - http://www.probike.co.za/demo/brands/raleigh/bikes/2006/elite-road/rc-6000-9-speed

 

And a

 

Giant OCR 1 9sp 2008 Model - http://www2.giant-bicycles.com/en-au/bikes/road/1128/28923/?collections_id=3

 

They both selling for R4000. What bike would be best and why?

The Ralieigh is older but has 105 which is better than Tiagra. Are these used or new? If they're used it would obviously depend on the condition. Check out the classifieds here I'm pretty sure you'll find a 10 speed 105 second hand for that money, much better bang for your buck.

It also depends on what you want to do with it.

 

The Giant has a more comfort orientated geometry, meaning you have a more upright seated position and is designed for relaxing/long distance type of riding.

 

The Raleigh is aimed at being a racing bike, giving you a more "forward" riding style. It will be less comfortable, but theoretically should make you faster.

 

I agree with Sandro about the parts, the Raleigh parts are better, however, I doubt you will get a 10 speed bike for that price.

 

If they are in a similar condition, I would take the Raleigh.
