Just remember there is a 15% duty plus VAT to be paid if you buy a whole bike from overseas.

yeah... so like 30% in total... PLUS shipping... at the end of the day it can prove quite pricey

MissionS... that 170mm Noton... WOW! And that price with a Hammerschmidt crank set... those alone are 6k with shifter. and the Lyrik fork... as stated before... the bikes are worth the money for parts alone!

Yeah Dirt did a review of that bike a few issues ago and the only thing they didn't like was the Hammerschmidt. That bike is a sick mini DH weapon tho. Yoh. Dropper seatpost and we are in business.

Ja I've never used one myself but there is apparently a noticeable amount of drag when in the "big" gear. dirt reckoned a 1x10 would be a better option. But what do they know?

Whats so good about a Hammerschmidt?

Well, it gives you 2 gear ratios up front, but unlike a 2 blade crank, your chain doesn't shift. It's more compact (ground clearance wise). Also shifting is instant and can be done under full load or no load (ie without pedalling).

It's an awesome idea... Basically a Rohloff hub for the front. Never tried one myself though.

Imagine a hammerschmidt front rohloff rear combo. 28 gear ratios without your chain ever derailing for a shift

So the decision has been made... and sadly I will be without a DH bike for a while.

I have decided to save for a makulu and a few other new parts... and hopefully I will have a shiny new DH bike in time for a mid year trip to the alps.

In the meanwhile I have ordered a value-for-money, lesser travel bike more suited for the majority of my riding. Pics to be posted soon on a certain other thread in this forum ;)

But this is not the end of my big bike adventures... just a breather!

Is it a 29'er?

 :D

actually yes. I tried the one in the bike park reception the other day and I was instantly converted. I went home, and re-thought my ways and soon you'll see all my DH and jumping gear for sale in the hub classifieds...

NOT!! hahaha! You guys thouhgt I was coming out of the closet there, weren't you!

If all goes well, I will be rolling a 160mm AM bike up and down the spruit, while I save for a Makulu to hit the big stuff
