@ prisma, maybe this will look less like mtb and more like roadie because the bulk is spread out over the same area as where your jersey pockets are -

Thanks for that kamikaze - you may also have solved an upcoming problem for me. After the Argus, the tri bracket is coming off to fit a bigger rear bag, which leaves me a problem of extra hydration for long distance rides. I don't find my standard Camelbak comfy on long road rides, this may be a good alternative to try. Cheers.

they might laugh at you for wearing it, but win the race and i promise, YOU will be doing the laughing.

Until you get disqualified for carrying an illegal fairing.

maybe you could also look at making yourself cooler while you ride? You will probably need less fluids that way.

Agree with you 100%. I even have white pants, LOL - talk about uncool :)

I recently started wearing the craft shirts, they are bascially like a mesh, extremely breathable. I got my hair cut too, specifically for this purpose :) Does need a trim though, maybe i'll pop in before Sunday.

Other than that I'm using an Aeon helmet so it's very light and has great airflow. Can't think of much else to change. Although I have imagined some kind of radiator vest which gets drip fed with water and chills in the air like those land rover water bottles :D

i refuse to believe that having bag-fulls of cr@p on you lower back - having pockets filled with pumps, water-bottles, tire levers, tubes, chainbreakers, bombs, gu's and banana's - is more comfortable than putting those items a camelbak.

and how does having a plastic bottle and pump sticking out of bulging pockets on your back look less of a tit that wearing a camelbak?

Pump is on the frame. one tube and one tyre lever in the back pocket. One energy bar and one gu in another pocket. Why carry bomb and chain breaker? You ride on the road, not remote trails that you need to take all THAT type of cr@p with.

Otherwise, just cycle faster to get more airflow and stay cooler. Always seems to work on the Motorbike ^_^

That only works until your sweat has dried up... then you get hot anyway...... I speak from experience

For the nerves, try taking rescue remedy from the night beforeand the morning oof the race . it helps a lot! there is also a homeopathic remedy for pre emptive anxiety. have used both before showjumping shows and for MTB races and works really well.
