DJR Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Yes, in the past there has been chaos with long route racing bunches trying to overtake weaving short route riders up ou kaaps, with irate motorists trying to overtake the racing bunches. Much better to have less congestion. Quite enjoyed the late start too. Only had to get up at 5.15 instead of the usual 4, and I was home in time to make a braai for our lunch guests.It's good to hear that the switch worked - all credit to the organisers for trying to sort a very common problem out. I'm used to starting early, but it wasn't easy to get my young sleepy heads up at 04h30 and in the starting chute at 06h00. I thought the early start would put people off doing the short route, but there were plenty takers.
