Okay, I paid my club membership fees, but how on earth do I get a license??? ... the CSA website is as useful as a polystyrene submarine and they do not respond to email queries through their website ..... I will not pay R35 every time I want to race.

Do the 'license' only if you want to race Elite, Vet, Sub Vet, Master (VA/VB/VC) Otherwise a "membership" is all that is required

CSA sanctioned events only require CSA membership, or 'partial' licence. If you want to race in UCI sanctioned events for UCI points, or national championships, you need to upgrade your CSA membership to a 'full' licence.

Youth only require membership to race at national champs, everyone else must upgrade to a full licence

veterans/masters and youth only require membership status to race at provincial champs.

The OP is fed up with paying day license fees. Should be quite obvious that the 'membership' "ticket" is what he is after.

Take the membership option. If you want to RACE then sure upgrade to a full license. Membership is required before a racing license can be taken out

R75 CSA and R75 CGC and you are eligible to race seeded open and if you want provincial (MTB and road)

Although in all the years licencing has been compulsory i have never been asked to produce my licence.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear that you are battling. I renewed my licence this week and it was completly pain free.

All my requests on eMail were answered promptly and I was pleasantly suprised.

Good luck

That bit about a membership only to ride provincial champs gets me when you need a racing licence to ride in an arbitrary "fun ride"

So any wally can take part in champs but you wanna go with the racing snakes, you need da licence. Makes me think it should have been the other way around but hey I'm just a cyclist.

Argus Licensed Vets perhaps? Otherwise membership is A-OK. I have not tried to go Licensed Vets on my membership status, but it does sound like some do that...
