jake the snake Posted February 29, 2012 Share Has anybody done a 75km Sabie Classic before where they never just climbed for the first 30km? Is it the 2100m of climbing, or the fact that they never bother to change the way the race goes up for 30km and up and down for the remaining 45km that is irritating some people?I think the heat played a role and the new "technical climb" at 50km. Still a cool race!

That's why I go there. The rest just wore me out. Unless you're really fit, these are your options: - train a lot more for this race than others- do the shorter distance (but miss out on the Mamba)- walk the initial climbs so you have something left (but that breaks my heart)</li>- or prepare to hate your life and hear "are you f***ing kidding me?!"; around you every time there's another uphill Edited February 29, 2012 by Zook
Fritz Pienaar Posted March 1, 2012 Share The route was actually easier on paper than last year and we definitely did not make it harder on purpose, but the top soil that washed away in recent floods which made the roads rougher. We will listen to your feedback and will try to make it a bit easier and more enjoyable next year, so don't worry about it getting harder. Sabie will never be easy though, but we certainly want to cater for the masses and will do what we can to accommodate the bulk of the riders. Thanks for the feedback. River Rat Posted March 1, 2012 Share Fritz I don't care what your paper says, it was tough full stop.
River Rat Posted March 1, 2012 Share Just to add, if you dare mention that it was easy again we'll have to hunt you down and reorientate you
Fritz Pienaar Posted March 1, 2012 Share Just to add, if you dare mention that it was easy again we'll have to hunt you down and reorientate you ;-) I don't think it was easy, so please don't reorientate me. Our aim is to have a marathon winning time of just over 3 hours, so 3:32 for Lourens is and indication that the route was too hard.

Zook Posted March 3, 2012 Share Here's a first-time attempt at editing together a few of my video snippets. Handheld, shaky rider, but hopefully it'll bring back some memories!
