Hi Garfield,

Apparently it's quite flat (but looking at the area there is a lot op hills so I don't quite know if it'll be that flat)

Apparently it's 2 loops for the bike and run and it is advertised as 90 & 21.1.

You will not receive a swim cap.

There won't be bottles of water on the cycling water tables (apparently you will be able to fill your bottles though).

There is no word on the the amount and distances of the water tables.

The only thing we do know for sure is that it is a non-drafting race and that it is on the 11th.

Start time for the full is 07h00.

Regards,

Barend.

Thx Barend.

Thanks for the information. Hopefully they will tell us closer to the time about the distances between the water tables on the run as well!

Strange that Spectrums Website does not carry any info as of yet?

Did this last year.

Good event.

Two loops of 45km for the bike. One hill of about 100m as you come into the turnaround/start finish, rest of race course flat.

Got a puncture last year and still biked a 5:40.

Run course is 3.5km gradual uphill to turnaround then 3.5km downhill, 3 loops. One water table run start, one at 1.5km and one at the top again.

All in all, you should be on course for your quickest 70.3 time of the year.

Hi thanks Brad

1.) To put things in perspective, what was your 90km bike time at East Londen (assuming you took part)?

2.) Are you sure the route was 90km? (just asking as Vanderbijl and Midmar last year was a bit shorter)

3.) So we will have a water table every 2.3km on the run? Awesome!

4.) What about the bike course water supply?

@GSNieP,

If you can manage to contain yourself and use this as a training run to sort out transitions, race day jitters etc, it can work.

If you cannot contain yourself and actually race it so close to IM, you will do much more damage than good.

So the question is - can you contain the beast?

Is it really too close to IM to race hard for 6 hours?

I mean most guys still have to to their 7 hour loooong bike ride?

According to the gurus...

Depending on the athlete, hard racing is not advisable for such a long period, so close to the IM.

If you race hard, you should take at least a week off to recover after the race.

That could play havoc with your training program and body state.

Tempo training is advisable, but in much shorter bursts.

And the 7 hour loooong bike ride - is not at race pace hey?

It's about time in the saddle and sorting out nutritional needs.

Not about racing...

Also will this race take place after their "differences" between TSA and Spectrum at VanderBijl?

I dont see anything on Spectrums website.........

According to the race organizers it is going ahead.

They will apparently update the Spectrum Sport website
