Sweet patch!! are you racing??

Well hopefully my rear shock will be back from service. Last time I rode the course on a 100mm 4X bike. Not ideal.

So if my DH bike is up and running, I'll make plans to come ride ... probably wont race though.

Yeah 139 is pedally in places. That's where the 4X bike was nice, and on the jumps (although I left the big jump out as most people were casing and without the forgiveness of a dh bike I may get sent otb if I do so.

It was the rocky parts where the little bike suffered. It only has an 80mm fork so even the mild rock garden can pose a challenge.

But the rear shock for my izimu is back from service so next time I'll feel a little more at ease.

139 is DH track in PTA.

1. Take the 139 exit off the N1 (North) and turn left onto Garsfontein Road.

2. Take first left at lights onto Matroosberg Rd and you'll go over a couple speed hums and traffic cirlces

3. Left onto Graskop Rd

4. Right onto Fort Mistake. This becomes Stapelia Rd.

5. Follow Stapilia to where it makes a sharp right and becomes Fuchia St. About 50m up there should be a dirt turn to your left (there is a big table here and a good spot to watch) OR continue up the road (500m) and you'll probably see cars and bikes about.

According to Google Earth Co-ords are : 25 48.078' S 28 15.650' E

Also check out a group on FB called "Mountainbikers do it downhill"

Most of the Gauteng DH info is there.

Hope there is a great crowd turn up! Will definitely be there!

To those who haven't seen these guys in action - please come and support them. From what I have seen when they practice, the more you cheer, the higher they jump and the faster they go

Good luck to all those who is riding in the competition!

Track is fun, but very dry and dusty!!! The step-on-step-off, called "***-n-drop", is claiming people every every run!!! I myself had a crash there!!! I hope lots of people come watch tomorrow!!! I saw Kelvin launch the whole ***-n-drop, that was the most awesome thing that I've seen all weekend!!! Who else is racing tomorrow??

Geesh, what happened to Hayden, Dust and Des?

I was there last weekend with both Dustin and Des. Dustin got his forearm pretty slashed up. I wasn't sure if he'd be racing. As for Des, I hope it wasn't his poor collarbone. He's only just recovered from one of those breaks.

EDIT: it seems Erlo Brown, Zoon Cronje, and Lee Ann Cantrell got a bunch of the action on camera.

Unfortunately I had to miss the race due to a certain someones poor planning of his wedding :cursing:, but I was there riding on Saturday. The track, although dusty, was in awesome condition & very well prepped IMHO. Big up to Marnus and all the guys who put shovel to dirt over the weeks leading up to the event, you guys did an awesome job. It was a shame that there was such a relatively low number of racers, but all the feedback from the racers I interacted with had positive things to say about the track and about the event, so hopefully we see bigger numbers in future events. I for one hope to take part...

Kath got Kelvin's boost over '*** n drop' on camera so I'll try get that posted in the next day or two. It was MASSIVE :w00t:

Hayden did his collar bone, not sure what happened to Des (I hope nothing serious) & Dustin is going under the knife today to sort out the elbow. Speedy recovery to all & a big thanks to the medics who looked after the fallen.

Congrats to Tiaan who destroyed on the day, winning by 4 or 5secs so I gather!

It seems the KZN boys in general dominated.
