Not less windy, it can really howl up there, but I agree it is somewhat safer. I think that the Argus would be awesome going over Ou Kaapse, but the weekend warriors will suffer.

Btw the Main Road is not any wider but the surface is excellent, much nicer for riding.

Um, have you driven over those 'bumps' that are present - the manholes that have either not been dropped or the road surface not raised to the old level. Might be smooth, but I am not keen for hitting one of those at speed.

The roadworks up to the end of Boyes Drive will be competed in around 2 months. The problem comes in when they move onto the next section which is between Kalk Bay and Clovelly, if that section doesn't get finished by next years Argus - a likely prospect, we may have to detour over Ou Kaapse Weg to get down to the Main Road in Fish Hoek.

NOOOOOOOOO! Riding up ou kaaps from tokai side is death for a heavy guy like me!

12 months incentive to drop a few kilos then .... ;) (sorry - only joking)

sounds like it could be fun, maybe include BlackHill to miss the Main Rd section out of Fish Hoek

That would be hectic when the 1st few bunches come through down that road when people are still heading up...... also allows for cheating (yeah I know they have timing mats near smits / soetwater but still).

no jokes man. I have a few kilo's to lose this winter. anyone know of any hide and seek moves that seems to leave the weight lost rather than finding me again?

Sorry - nothing to offer there. I dropped 4 kg on the Argus despite drinking 5 bottles en route. It'll all go back on over next week or two though I'm sure
