Hi Hubbers,

If you have a ride planned or have one in your "bucket list" to ride Sani, don't wait. It is absolutly fantastic and the area of the pass is breath taking. We went up and then came down after a cold drink in the pub this Sunday.

I don't know why I waited so long to do it but it is highly recommended.

Regards

Sarge

If I remember correctly, it's just over an hour and a half up from the hotel and about half an hour down. Just over two hours...

****me! You must have been hauling @ss or somebody pays you a good salary to ride a bike... That is approximately 40-42km. As a mid pack weekend warrior, I can safely say that riding up to the top including the odd scenery break (read: stop to search for oxygen...) took us about 3,5 hrs but coming back down was just under an hour. We had to stop at the border post because because we lost a brake pad and our hands were numb from the shaking!

WOW! There goes my bragging rights

I thought I was flying down... from border post to boarder post: 11min 43 sec.. You guys got back to the Sani Hotel in 30 minutes!!! Bloody Hell!!! Respect!

Yes you need a passport...

The SA Border post is 8km from the top... and the Lesotho Border post is right at the top.... so you ride for 8 km in NO-MANS-LAND! :)

Did that during the Sani Transfrontier race. The winners were just under 2 hours...

So was mine! You must have passed us on the way down! (I was the big guy at the back doing all the pushing still on my way up. I like to get my monies worth!)

where did you park your cars?

You can leave them at the border post as well. If not, then go ask at the backpackes just up from the hotel. They shouldn't mind if the hotel is an issue.
