I see this is being advertised on Cyclelab. Does any of you guys know of this event and what it is like in terms of organisation on toughness?

Any opinions will be appreciated.

Probably the worst route I have ever done. For R 160 you at least expect that they would cut some grass or pretend that they did any effort with building some sort of a route. Really dissapointed that I entered this race...

a friend did the 35km route and wasnt impressed either. Apparently this was their first race and they were still busy sorting out route markings. One would've hoped that they would have that done by race day, specially since there are several very nice routes and races in the area.

It was quite hard work in terms of the track being unprepared, plus a lot of gully hopping which b*ggers up your rhythm (but improves your bunny hopping!). Also dangerous areas were not marked.

There was one particularly pathetic part where there was no track. They opened a hole in the fence to get from one farm to the next, but didn't bother doing it anywhere where there was a path. Just pick up yr bike, walk through the veld to where the path starts again - and it wasn't a short hop either. At least pretend to have done some trail prep guys. Even the lead motorcycle was floundering around.

This isn't a race I'd've liked for my first ride.

where can one get the results? i did the 55km, wasn't technical, but i would also not have liked this to be my 1st race either? helped a lot of struggling people along the route, people are really under prepared for these races. the trail wasn't to bad, did not enjoy the walking, way to early in the race, would not have been such a problem later, with the field more spread out.

all in all, i will do this one again, but then work needs to done on the trail development side. there are some nice climbs, use them to make it a bit more technical, the opportunity is there!
