Hi all. Please help? Im a total beginner. My goal is to get fit, lose some weight and at a later stage start with some beginner trials.

I have narrowed it down to 3 bikes. When I go onto the net to check out some reviews I get different feedback, naturally.I ve just learnt that its all about the component however minutes later I read that the giant revel 0 has a crappy fork. Now what? I thought its all about the components!

Can anyone please assist here? I planning to buy this friday.

Fork = component. You can replace it when it breaks :)

Suntour makes bottom-of-the-pile forks, as far as I've been told (of course, there are one or two exceptions, but none you will find as standard equipment on a bike)

At that price range, look at individual components that will make the most difference to YOUR riding style / needs. For example, if you want sharp brakes, look at which one has the best brake setup. Remember that most things on a bike can be upgraded :)

My 2cents....

I rode a Trek 4300 (2008) for 4 years - and that thing was as tough as nails. Had the V-brake version, and RockShox Dart 2 forks. Did a lot of Groenkloof trails & local races. I recently upgraded to dual susp. but can truly say that my Trek was an awesome bike. I still got the bike and want to build it up with some nicer components, tubeless conversion etc. as an extra bike. I didn't really worry about the weight back then - but think the newer one's are lighter - I think?

Anyways - take all of them for a test ride and make a descision. Njoy...
