Hi all.

ive got a little dilema that im trying to resolve. i have an old set of mavic askium rims, that are starting to get quite worn, lots of scratches... and not only that im starting to break a few spokes here and there... i keep saying its the massive torque that im putting down, ( its really my arse ).

so now the problem is, do you guys think it would be worth it to get the rims re-spoked and have one helleva service on them, or should i rather save that dollar for a new set of wheels?

Currently im weighing in the 110kg region, altho i am dropping down.

I was thinking of getting the AC victory wheelset, they supposed to be rated for large riders.

you can get very nice Custom wheels built up for you by Chain Reaction Cycles, good fun choosing components etc, I've done 2 sets. shipping free and it was cost effective.

If your current wheels are shearing nipples / breaking spokes, then there is indication of much metal fatigue due to usage. an overhaul on most of it might be needed. Thus, much more fun building up something new and fresh...

Get some new ones. Spokes on average going to cost R10 each, then you looking at over R300 per wheel to rebuild. Do the math. You can get a good set of wheels for a little bit more than rebuilding.
