This may be a very stupid question, but what is the point of my flightdeck telling me the gear ratios, every time i change gear ?

Am I just reeeeeally ignorant, or is the number quite well.. useless?

Way back when it was important to know your ratio's. Then we only had 5 cogs on the back and usually 48/52 in front.  We took a lot of time deciding on which  five to use before a race, and was useful to know which ones were duplicated.   Everyone knew their ratio's ..

Today with 10 on the back and 53/39 in front there is always capacity to spare.  Not important to know the ratio anymore.

If you look back at your cassette everytime you shift to check in wich gear you are' date=' then get a flightdeck. If not, good.[/quote']
