Epic 2012, How does it rate?

For those who enjoy single track and all mountain riding, this also looks like a cool new(ish) event in Europe: http://www.trans-provence.com/ - I think they are running their second or third event this year. Still small scale but riding looks awesome...

As I explained to a friend who can't do epic as he wants to redo the bathroom at home

 

In tens years time imagine pulling out your photo album and telling everyone how fantastic your batthroom is and showing them the tiles and the plumber working there and how you love that shower head

 

Fark that I will rather spend my money on experiences that I will treasure the rest of my life

 

You should see what my bathroom looks like - freakin' solid gold taps and ivory tiles!! I'm thinking of doing a coffee table book about it (I stole that idea from the Epic )

i'm one of the few mtbers around who has NOT done the Epic. I'm not against doing it in principle, but have 39 900 reasons to do other things with my week off thank you.

 

There by far more MTB'ers that have not done it.

I know less about Ironman than I do about the Epic, but why does the IM cost R 4000? Is it a franchise thing? That makes the Epic look reasonable.
