Looking at another MTB and just had a quick size question.

My previous MTB was a Medium Giant Anthem and it felt fine. I'm looking now at a Scott Spark but it's a Large.

Looking at the Scott's geometry, I fall into the Large category and there's only about 30mm difference in top tube length.

Can I get away with a Large?

I'm 1.78m tall.

Thanks for the help...

Yes that was my next step but had really dodgy advice from some LBS in the past so thought the Hubbers might be able to provide some unbiased opinions...

I ride a Scott Spark size medium. I am 1.75m tall and I feel 100% comfortable on it. I am not too sure you should go for a large. If the bike feels too small, you can always get longer stem etc, you can chop the frame if it feels too big ( the spark came with a short stem already ).

Thanks, I also a little dubious about going from a medium to a large...

I've checked the geomtery on the Anthem and the Scott and there's only a 15mm difference in the effective toptube measurement between the Medium Anthem and the Large Spark.

I'm going to have to try and pop in at LBS to check the acutual difference.

Sorry, meant to say, you CAN'T chop the frame if the bike is too large! .

If there is only 15mm different, I really doubt that you should go for a large.

Try before you buy.
