hi all, i need some assistance,

i have a new bike and the suspension is way way too involved for my simple brain to comprehend, i have downloaded the manuals, setup guides, youtube video/s etc etc and am still confused, the fork and rear shock have more features and functions than i have ever seen and to be honest none of them make any sense despite reading the instructions cover to cover repeatedly.

is there anyone that can assist in either setting up/ teaching me how to setup or charge me for the setup of the suspension for my weight and all mountain style of riding?

i am in the JHB area so the assistance will have to be close enough for me to drive to, a trip to Durbs or CT really isn't on the cards i am afraid.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Set your sag up first. For the fork, turn propedal, compression damping, etc to full open. Get on your bike in the attack position i.e. standing on the pedals, full kit on. Get off carefully, take note of where the rubber o-ring on the fork leg is. This should be about 35% of total fork travel. If not, adjust the air pressure (for air fork) or preload for coil fork.

Same for shock, except you should be sitting on the saddle when checking sag.

For setting rebound, I would set it somewhere between half way and full slow. Go ride, if either end feels bouncy, slow the rebound a little more. If it feels wallowy, speed up the rebound a little.

Go ride, watch some suspension tuning videos.
