Hi Clubbers, would like to know if there are any clubbers running with a Cannondale Jekyll 2011/12 model, would love to hear some feedback or reviews.

Am seriously looking at getting one in but have been informed that they have been dropped by Omnico in SA. Was told by the guys out at Rietvlei that there are a few in the country............???

Any experience or users??

Those are very nice

I agree - and with a 150mm travel lockable to 90mm it certainly looks the business for South African terrain, strange why we are all so hung up on XC bikes...............suppose its the inner "I wanna dice" South African culture, but yea, great bike.

I have tested one of those, awesome freeking machine! That 150mm travel chows up anything you can throw at it, flick the switch before you start climbing and you have just 90mm travel. You dont need singletrack , you create singeltrack with that machine! :D

Wrote a short review in response to a thread somewhere ... will see if I can find it.

If you are in Cape Town sometime soon, I can organize a test ride.

Then we can really have that beer, at my parkie! ;)

;) on a spending spree much???

LOL...............if it comes up i will def have a look at it, there is always room for another, just different machine for different location.

WOW Tank, so you know of someone with one then, did they import directly themselves? No immediate plans for Cape visits, off to China in 2 weeks so will have a look as i have found a store with stock in Beijing, although i am sure there wont be too many parkies to really test it out, although i am lead to believe there is a wall of some sort.............?????

off topic but i wanne **** myself laughing everytime I ready about the Parkie. :D

You like that $..t????i also get a kick, as a matter of fact i have taken it up with both Northerns and Thaba to add it as a prefix................

I have also ogled that bike and wondered about the settings on it. To my surprise I saw one in CTN when I was down at the Argus in Cyclelab of all places. I asked Gary about it and he said it was a customers bike but it was for sale second hand. I did have a quick thought about it. It looks the business with all those lockouts etc but a word of caution here: the travel is used differently on the bigger longer travel bikes and even if you use lockouts and other trickery they have different head angles which also change with the change in fork length. Long story short - dont sell your XC bike unless you are very strong. But when the path turns downhill there are few that can stay with you. Even if you cna shorten the travel the activation ratios are lower so the bikes tend to be plusher. they can go uphill but now well. How do I know - I have had a Santa Cruz Nomad and currently have a Specialized Enduro

FWIW: I am lusting after the Specialized Stupmjumper Sworks 29er for all the above reasons, but mostly because it is a 29er in a long travel package with the ability to stabilize the platform intelligently for climbing. It is the business. But so is its price.

I have the Jekyll's slightly older, slightly bigger brother (Cannondale Moto 1 carbon, 160mm travel), and if the Jeckyll is anything like it, than it'll be awesome!

I have seen them in a few shops around here too. FPC paulshoff has one on the floor, as does/did Cyclelab Fourways.

In fact I think the Cyclelab one was a demo because I saw a guy that had it on test at the bike park. So maybe give either of those shops a call, see if they still have the bike, and go pay it a visit,

Wow that's good looking. I have a Rocky Mountain long travel free ride bike which i'll never sell. I renew my XC bike every year which i use for the races etc but you need that extra fun bike (if you can afford it) for te recreational rides in baggy shorts..

Agree with MikeMT, it's not all about racing

What do they cost?

hey, I need to save every spare penny I have for the day when my plastic crackendale decides to recycle itself

But once my green grips are worn down to the handlebars... it'll be orange grips going on there!

As for the alu... I agree. I would have gone alu if I could but it was only available in carbon at the time. Even if the carbon is just as strong, it takes a while to get your mind around it and stop babying the bike. And when you baby/hesitate you're more likely to bail.

I think the only bike where I would sell body organs to go cabon over alu, is the Santa Cruz Nomad.
