Thanks guys, yes bled them twice and added oil , doesn't seem to make a difference. Think I'm gonna sell them and get the Trail version, Bike Radar recommends them over the race version, cheers

There is nothing wrong with your brakes... they are not "breaks" or "broken"....

 

All they need is a good bleed... the Caliper on the new XT/XTR is a bit tricky to bleed... and if you bleed them right they will BITE like crazy, trial or race....

 

Even though the one-way bleeding is AWESOME... you have to get the air out, and the only way to do that is to remove the caliper while bleeding and to move it to a couple of different angles during the bleed process to get all the air out. I promise!

Your bleeding technique may well be better. But the issue here is not how they bite - we all agree that these brakes can stop a train. The issue is when they bite, and some of us think that it's too late. Of course, some of us might find it acceptable - I have slowly gotten used to mine, in fact I have set my trail brake to bite at the same time as the race.
