Any reviews and opinions on TRIGON Carbon Duel or H/tails?

Hey guys.

 

I'm looking to buy a new bike and try a new brand.

 

Has anyone got info / opinion about Trigon Carbon bikes... Im still undecided between Duel or HrdTail either in 29".

 

 

Some feedback would be awesome...

I saw both the HT and DS 29ers one the weekend and they sure look good. The ds seemed quite similar to a Spez if I'm not mistaken.. The store said that they had a client who did the Epic on one as he was pleased with the performance.

Who are they? Another bulk manufacturer who decided to apply their own stickers/paint?

Their bikes seem a bit pricey? Especially in light of this 'blurb'

I read that as "We decided to cut out the middle man and take two slices of the cake for ourselves, rather than one."?

The prices appear very steep IMO... If you assume a retailer would normally add 30% minimum on a complete bike then that hardtail is theoretically a R63k bike which is top Spesh/Cannondale territory for what is essentially a standard blank frame available from E-Bay with some stickers added (and our wholesalers aren't exactly running tiny margins themselves)... If you bought those parts yourself at retail you would still have around R10k left to put into a frame and still come in cheaper than the hardtail. That means you could probably spec a brand new Giant XTC carbon 29er frame at the same level for the same price (and that's at prices available to all of us easily - not wholesale prices) - I know which one I'd choose (I'm estimating prices here to some extent, but I have a pretty good idea of what is available).

 

Given what they are and what they claim their purpose is, they're probably around 10 to 15% overpriced at a minimum.

Thanks guys.... I've been looking and personally, i feel its price steep compared to Sepcialized.. Might as well buy the brand you know (better the devel you know, than the devil you don't.)

 

Also, I am having such a difficult time deciding if I should be riding 29" in any case... i'm 1.69m tall... and I did not feel comfortable on the previous 29er test I did...

Took the HT for a test Friday , super light and stiff 9.8kg with pedals.

 

But for 30K i'd get something else imho.

For a start look at a late 2010 or 2011 model. Great discounts are to be had on old stock. Saved almost 50% doing that with my Fuji.
