What a ride, I reckon as tough as any day on Sani. The additional hill in the last 10 kms of the second lap certainly added some spice, thank goodness for the delightful team on the last waterpoint they were a treat, I hope the Yorkie made it. Loved the bull run, once again I found out that Avids are not up to muster when it comes to heavy braking, time to get some Shimano brakes. Strange how much sand there was compared to last year, which made the going quite tough.

The funniest was the monkey that decided to hop onto the track on the downhill with his back to me and started catching ants or something. I realised that I was going to hit him at 30km/hr and I whistled, he heard my whistle and instead of jumping off the track he jumped straight up and landed on my camelback and off. Thank god he did not have a bowel movement! Thanks to the organisers, see you next year.

Induna MTB Race Report 2012

The sun came up on the First Ascent Big Induna mountain bike race as the riders filed in, radiating a tangible excitement. A jubilant, festive atmosphere reigned at the venue as the last minute bike adjustments were made.

Riders from all over the show, lined up on a perfect sunny winters day in Hazyview, to see how much punishment their bodies could endure on the challenging course that was dished up by the Induna Adventures team. This route resembled a play park with excitement and beauty around every corner and berm. The route was fast flowing and tested the skills of man and machine. National celebrity, Sarel, from the M-Net series, Master Chef South Africa, cooked up a storm as the MC of the day. He welcomed each rider as if a family member and hero, as they sprinted, crawled, waved, wheelied or walked with big smiles past the First Ascent finish line. <<More info>>

To Jaco and all the people involved in making this event stunning :

Thank you very much for a superb route and a wonderful day. Just the most fun, even though the first 10k's were quite hard for me, I enjoyed every moment. Including the socialising along the way.

Kind regards,

Glenda Victor
