  1. Also still enjoying our Monster ProNutro (a son also works instead of a girlfriend except that he eats the stuff himself) ProNutro has an acceptable GI so it works well with fructose for a pre-race meal to keep suger levels stable if you ride on low GI drinks. But then you should keep away from bananas etc.
  2. This is is one reason why I love Mountain biking. There is no way my 16 year old son will start smoking as he believes it will influence his fitness. Mountain biking seems to be a better parent than me!
  3. BGS, you should really go and do some of the smaller races as well. Personally I love them, just so much more relaxed and personal. This weekend there is the race at Rust de Winter. We did it last year and it was great fun. Keep on riding!
  4. This white/non-white thing is politically very incorrect
  5. Maybe we should start to intimidate the speedcops to strike!
  6. It is just funny that the good teachers who deserve double that increase are all at school, but the no-good ones, who are just about never at work anyway, strike to demand more pay. And of course they then intimidate the good schools!
  7. Now Mama wants to be difficult too. My 16 year old took up mtb, and inspired us all, including his Very big (130kg) dad. Of course dad had to sponsor the whole thing with his corporate job. Since starting to cycle his blood pressure and stress levels came down, so, while bothering no one, and enabling three other people to ride, I think he has the right to enjoy the sport too. Now an interesting thing happened last week : we got ourselves an indoor trainer, mostly because dad's little corporate 8-4 job kept him busy till after dark most of the time, making it difficult for him to train. Junior was highly affronted to find that, with weight not an issue, at the same resistance Dad could go considerably longer at higher speed than him, despite his number of visits to the podium, in races that Dad was just glad to finish. So, next time you go training, pack yourself a nice little backpack of 30-50 kgs, put it on your back and go find out how hard those guys are working
  8. All my sympathy Sloet! Hope you will be back on your bike soon.
  9. No WW they were supposed to use everybody's results from Mabalingwe. I checked his index on mtncycling.co.za before Mabalingwe was added, but after Mabalingwe, where he came 6th in the 35 km, his index didnt change at all. After some queying to and fro, his index was adjusted this morning and he will now start in batch B. He doesnt have a new numberboard yet.
  10. I took back what I said. We eventually got my son's index sorted out, and we are happy. Because of previous results last year he is still seeded lower than the guys he wins at the moment, but it is his job to work on that. At least his good result at Mabalingwe was taken into account. Thanks Carla!
  11. Ag nee wat, I dont understand their system at all, and it doesnt seem to help to query anything. It took days for them to answer my e-mail, and then it was only some vague reply saying nothing
  12. We had the new Fortuner for just over a year now. I know nothing of all that technical stuff, but we really enjoy our car. Took it to Namibia last year with a notoriously unbalanced trailer, and never had any problems, even when we had to swerve out of the road to avoid a BMW laying on its roof. When we first got it, my hubby really tried to unbalance it on a dirt road, but the stability control kicked in before it even start to drift. My teenager son found it pretty boring. As for its size - with two teenagers and a big husband we use all the space. Maybe I'm not so up to date with this things, but I dont know of any problems with the facelift model.
  13. You can also buy a pair of cheap black socks, cut off the top ribbing and wear that as an armband.
