Tjommies Posted January 7, 2008 Share I got my new baby last week - never been on a mtb before and a buddy took me on my first ride to Tokai forest. Absolutely brilliant!! As part of my initiation, I had to go through thick sand and obviously came off spectacularly. The problem I now have is that my chain (and everything else) is full of sand. What is the best (and quickest) way to get rid of sand on my chain. Also are there any MTB sites that I can visit to enlighten me?
KevinFok Posted January 7, 2008 Share if you just hose your bike down and then clean the chain with a chain cleaning device (can be bought at any good bike shop, sportsmans too) that should do the trick. Dont forget to relube.there are alot of place online to go check out biking stuff just google it otherwise for riding tips there is a book out by Brian Lopes and Lee mc Cormack, Cant remember the title but can post it when I get home and check it out. Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted January 7, 2008 Share tjommies, not sure if this is the correct way, but I will use the hose to blast away most of the sand, then a degreaser (about R18 for 500ml @ Brights) with a brush (cluster as well), and let it dry out in the sun. Then re lube the chain or: http://www.mtbonline.co.za/info/mountain-bike-maintenance.htmpopeye2008-01-07 02:51:
