  2. Nasser Arend Fundraising Cyling Event On Sunday the 16th August we are requesting all friends of cycling to meet @ Jubilee Square Simons Town between 8.30am and 9.30am in order to show our support for our fellow cyclist in need, we hope to run a collection for funds towards Nasser much needed cancer treatment. We are appealing to one and all to make a donation as generous as their pockets allow. This appeal goes out to fellow cyclist but is by no means limited to them, we welcome one and all to come show your support...we don't care whether you come by bicycle, motor bike, bus or train even by OX WAGEN just come!!! "In the event of rain collection will still take place."
  3. As I am posting this, I called Nasser. He is at Groote Schuur waiting on his chemo treatment. I informed him about the response on the hub and both he and his wife are totally overwhelmed and grateful for the support.
  4. Hi guys Thought Id post a picture of Nasser and his wife. These pics were taken during the 2007 DC. Please support in any way you can.
  5. Slowbee, have a look at Silverback. I was is your position a few months back and the Silverback was definitely the best value for money in that price range, plus it looks pretty damn cool.
  6. I'm with the colonel here. Being in the financial services industry I would never ever advise anyone to buy anything on credit - it is a vicious cycle (excuse the pun). Rather save up for your bike and buy it cash.
  7. I got my new baby last week - never been on a mtb before and a buddy took me on my first ride to Tokai forest. Absolutely brilliant!! As part of my initiation, I had to go through thick sand and obviously came off spectacularly. The problem I now have is that my chain (and everything else) is full of sand. What is the best (and quickest) way to get rid of sand on my chain. Also are there any MTB sites that I can visit to enlighten me?
  8. Anyone who rides without a helmet is a complete and utter idiot!!!
  9. I also had no ID, letter, email or race number. They have someone in the corner who asks for your name and they will give you your number. You can then go fetch your pack once you have the number.
  10. Thanks guys Splat - your short rides that you are going to do - how short and will they be high intensity? Are you including sprints?
  11. Hi All I've just spent 9 hrs on my behind doing the DC. I have entered for the Burger but I am noit sure how to handle this week. Should I take a complete break to recover? Two of my buddies said they suffered after their first DC last year as they had only done mileage training, no speedwork. Any advice would be appreciated.
  12. Not sure where Suikerbosrand is, but you should've been in Swellendam. The DC is where the action was.
  13. I feel gutted! My prayers to the family and friends of those affected by this tragedy.
  14. Surely you meant "reward" and not "punishment" I think Oukaapse definitely!
