I am not a very technical rider, I ride the spruit and that kinda thing.

All your questions on tubeless seem to have been comprehensively answered but just wanted to point something out...

The Spruit is as technical as you want to make it. :P

What's your reason for 0 sealant?

This week on the Spruit, m8 burped his front wheel, i do think the sealant helps re-seal, not sure what pressure you run?

Then other guys had flat issues on Sun, sealant had "run out/dried" so they spent a good 15min removing the tyre and pulling all the existing thorns out (a step few of us follow regularly, although i've been told leave thorns, they seal themselves), before tubing.

In Zim, i managed a small hole thru a water crossing day 1, double plug to seal the hole and i believe Stan's helped seal the little holes around the plug. Then post 3 day ride, i pulled out thorns from that stage ride (new tyres) so i'm a true believer in S.E.A.L.A.N.T  I've run foldable & UST tyres. My thought is are you aiming to have the lightest bike ever, so people can admire it while you're fixing flats, or are you going out to have 0 issues and a happy ride? Personally i don't enjoy mechanicals on a ride :cursing:

Road, no sealant, check tyres regularly, i carry sealant for my tubbies in case i puncture, never had to use it on a ride yet (knock on wood).

Very good point. I don't make it too technical.

Thanks very much for all that. I'm more of a weekend warrior doing a couple of 30km rides a week.

The main reason for my question was really to bring maintenance down. No need to check and refill sealant every few months.

I have just got back from my LBS with a fresh bottle of Stan's will be renewing my sealant tonight.

I'm interested to see if there is evidence of thorns or other punchtures when I get inside the tires.

I'll report back on this post.

Many thanks to you and all the other hubbers for all the info supplied so far.
