So I came off at Rietvlei 2 weeks back, immediate swelling on elbow, seemed ok but X-ray a week later shows 2 fractures on elbow and 1 on the wrist. No cast required thank goodness but too weak to ride for a while.

Wondering what average recovery times and injuries experienced from fellow Hubbers?

Broken toe was 6 weeks +-

Shifted Vertebrea in my neck +- 4 weeks with 2 weeks physio

Torn ligaments in my left knee +- 4 weeks

Man I miss downhill. However I was young and stupid and didnt stick to the docs orders. Now im stuck with permanent damage to my neck and knee. Not good at all.

My wife broke her knee on two places.

Doctors told her that she must just forget about any cycling for the next year! Although she can walk now, she started to do some slow exercise on a spinner. With an injury i think it is best to follow doctor orders to avoid any further injury later that could be more permanent.

+1001 on this. Most of us aren't pro's - rather listen to the doc and take that extra week off. What's it really going gain you to ride a week or two earlier?! (vs the risk of re-injuring and/or having a long-term niggle)

Sit back, light the fireplace and spend time with the family. Maybe an indoor session or two later on. Play it safe and come back better.

Ja, as I wrote that I was thinking to myself it's much easier said than done. Good luck on both recovery and the denial of wanting to go riding. Heal up well!
