I bought a bike in August 2011 with the above shock. I did about 1800 km on this bike of witch 800 was on tar road and the shock on lockout.

My last two rides while ridding with the shock I notice that the shock compress about 50% and seems to get stuck there. When i pulled on the handle bars, it actually does release and extend again untill another few km and stuck again.

Firstly, I dont know if this shock is still under under warranty, and if it is, the LBS where i bought the bike is an idiot and would in anyway tell me it is out of warranty.

Secondly, if the shock needs a service, is there anybody in Durban area that can service it?

Thirdly, how difficult is it to service myself and where can I get the spares for the shock?

Your advice wold be appreciated

Check that the shock isnt just low on air..? This sounds bezar after only 5 months of use..

Unless you pulled it through properly, but it doesnt sound like it..

put a little bit of lube on the stancions (the gold/silver parts that slide into the seals) and work it a bit..

i agree check air pressures first. inflation table should be on the left leg. your lbs should be able to order spares for you but its unlikely you will need anything on such a new shock.

I checked the air yesterday before I ride. The shock is not loosing any air in anyway. I will try lube today and check it out.

I am not hard type of ryder and not doing a lot of tecknical stuff and that is why I am so surprised that the shock is giving me hassles.

Thanks for the advise :-)

sounds weird. maybe the air chamber is leaking internally. it should def still be under warranty. i spoke to my lbs who said it would cost around 400 for a complete service on one so not too expensive

Thanks Mike. I checked the presure now again and put some oil on the shafts leading into the shock. I compress the shocked a few times and is working fine, but I will take it for ride this afternoon and check it out. If i still have any problems, i will contact the LBS where I bought the bike from and hope and pray they not full of stories like normally:-) :-)

Thank you for your assistance!

That is what I love of the Hub! Everytime i am in doubt, just ask and somebody WILL know!!

I oiled the strans with some thin oil (chain lube) and worked it properly in. Took the bike out this afternoon and pushed it hard through some rocky sections and shock was like new! Not even a sign of any stickiness.

Thank you everybody, you certainly safed me a few bob with your knowledge!
