Hi

Could this work for someone who wants to do xc racing. The frame is not any heavier than the medium that much but what are the cons. Would the geometry be affected a lot and could it be fixed by a seatpost turned around etc.

My opinion, NO it is not going to work. It is like throwing a gate around corners!

I'am 1.76, and ride an 18" or Medium. No bigger. Even 19" feels to big and clumsy (for me)

With such a big frame there will be no standover height, which is a big problem.

Can't be fixed. Even though the measurement refers to the length of the seattube the bike will also have a longer top tube and higher stand over height. Always size a bike or have a proper fitment done, but at your height you need a Medium (17 - 18" in most models) bike.

On a bike that much too big for you your weight distribution will be wrong and your stretch will harm your body in the long run. You won't have control in faster or technical sections.
