  1. Yeah, saw that. according to results she did came 38th.
  2. Anyone know what happened with Candice Lill during her race? She was sitting in top 10 in lap one. I suspect either a crash or a mechanical. Hope she is not injured.
  3. Scalpel will be awesome. I had the old scalpel for 5 years. it had it's problems. Then I decided to get something else. Tried a few different bikes (giant anthem, trek fuel ex, trek top fuel), and then I tried the new scalpel. It was game over. I bought a new scalpel again, even though I know that the proprietary lefty components can be bit of a problem when servicing is required. It is just such a sweet fun bike. Don't underestimate the 100mm travel on the new scalpel. It is very capable.
  4. The Cape Epic use to be like this few years ago. I've done 2013 and 2016. I've noticed a big difference between these 2 years. The food in marquee tent where shocking in 2016. It really caters only for the pro / very rich amateur riders. We where an average team with average bikes and felt out of place in this event. Not so sure I will do it again....
  5. This bike must have been released in the last week or so. Scalpel with Eagle grouppo and SID XX up front. http://www.cannondale.com/en/International/Bike/ProductDetail?id=0ff874f4-1d28-466b-88ac-c08d0e4959ab It makes alot of sense to me.... however wished that the travel could be 120... What are your thoughts?
  6. I'am happy for Max! awesome. Alot of people hates him, but I'am not sure why... I know he has been riding with 3 partners in the past that got busted, but I still believe he race clean and he needs more respect from us.
  7. > 55k replies. What the hec .....
  8. I'am a Shimano XT / XTR brakes guy. Are these Guide brakes better and easier to maintain that the trustworthy XT's ? I just had bad experience with SRAM Avid in the past, but it is going to take some effort to convince me that the latest SRAM brakes are better...
  9. Damn ! Baie sterkte met die recovery Johan!! Ons dink aan jou!
  10. Cav, Just to confirm, do you think the specs of the Alu Caad10 will be strong enough to hold 120kgs? Mainly referring to the wheelset.
  11. Hi All, I've got a friend that is interested in this bike. It is R18500 new. What is your views on this bike: http://www.bianchi.com/it/bikes/Bikes_Detail.aspx?ProductIDMaster=48739 Any other bikes that are better for this money that this one? 13. 6ft3 = 188. I will buy a Large, not a XL.
  14. Hi all, I'am looking for a few shops around Gauteng that sell BMX race bikes for kids. (son is 5 years old, so he will need a BMX Mini Race) I can't find much online. I have looked through a few second hand sites, but there is nothing available. Prefer second hand otherwise I will consider new. Any recommendations please. tx Paul

  16. Same with me! Feel like giving up cycling after this news! I'am so shocked and sad. Condolences to Cherise and family. He has been my hero since he was 17 and will remain my hero forever. He did so much for the sport and will always be remembered by the international mountain biking community not only SA
  17. Thanks for this info. I have a 3 liter camelbag and my wife has a 2 liter camelbag. I will use my wifes camel bag by the sounds of it. I have a dually, and the second bottle cage behind seat is always a mission with loosing bottles.
  18. I've stayed for 8 years between Sabie and Graskop in the forest as a Child, as my dad was in the forestry. Then we moved to Nelspruit for 10 years. I see that you are from Komatipoort. Where do you cycle around that area? It is so flat and hot
  19. Jip I'am in Perth now for 3 years. Ek is afrikaans, en van die laeveld af. OUr training is going very well at the moment. I'am following a strict training program. I do have a sensitive digestive system, and experimenting with some products. I do like the High 5 as it is not so sweet, and my guts can handle it fairly well. I will get some biltong / nuts as well to carry with me. jmaccelari, The point you made about the required amount to be taken during the race and stick to it makes alot of sense to me. THanks I have read before that people recommend taking around 60 g of carbs per hour. Is that in the ball bark that you go as well? I assume the water points is well equipped. Because I will load myself up on each water point with whatever I can find to eat.
  20. I'am also trying various bars, But at the moment I like the high 5 4:1 bars. Any other bars you guys would recommend as well? The power bars are to sweet for my liking.
  21. Dump question, But a few people I have talked to ride only with water in the camel packs on the epic. I never ride with water, not even on small training rides. But the other factor is, you will get tired of all the sugars each day. Any one of you that have done the epic, what is your opinion on this? And what do you recommend for stage races? I'am currently on High 5, or Powerbar Isoactive, but not sure if they are appropriate. Thanks
