Upgrading 8spd to 10 spd (Deore or SLX?)

Hi

 

I'm going to upgrade my 8spd to a 10spd. (cassette, derailleur, chain and shifters)

 

After phoning a few bike shops for pricing, some tell me that Deore is good enough and others tell me that I need to go SLX.

 

I currently have deore shifters and derailleur but want to get the right parts for the upgrade.

 

Will Deore be good enough or should I go SLX?

I'd go with SLX for the shifters and the RD, the rest Deore

I would go with Deore XT myself.

I know its more money, but there is nothing worse than clunky changes, or slips or grinding (well for me anyway).

The 2011 and 2012 SLX components were reviewed very favourably and I believe that the 2012 SLX is pretty much the same thing as 2011 XT

Also read good things about slx. Ive got a slx xt combo and its champion. Id go for slx.

I'll try go as much SLX as possible (depending on cost) or SLX shifters and RD with the rest deore.

 

Also should I go 11-32 or 11-34 cassette? I mostly ride Northern Farm and occasionally the spruit or cyclepark.
