  1. Thanks for the info everyone. Dropped my forms off on Wednesday and it was fast and painless. Went back on Thursday to collect the permit, that took about 45mins. You hand your Id over, then wait to be called. If your photo is not on the system then you need to take one. (Helpful hint, don’t move the chair when you sit to take the photo, the guy gets really upset because his camera is set at the perfect distance to the chair). Painless process all in, staff were friendly, I didn’t move the chair! Felt a bit bad for the staff, they were getting a bit of abuse for not allowing someone to fetch another persons permit, even after they explained that you need to fetch in person due to the photo and that you need to sign. rode ride, was nice to be back there. permit is also valid for 2years which is nice.
  2. Thanks, that is very helpful. Ordered the saris basic trainer and the speed sensor which can also be used as a cadence sensor. If I end up using this daily then I would consider upgrading to a smart trainer. hopefully by then I will have shed some kg’s and be under the max weight limit for more smart trainers. Currently saris is the only trainer with a rated weight limit that will support me and a bike up to 12kg.
  3. Thanks everyone. Will start looking for a road bike. 🙂 I’ve worked out the size (54-56) based on a bunch of online height to frame size calculators.
  4. I'm trying to lose weight and get a bit fitter so I can finally hit the trails on my MTB again. Decided to get a mag trainer and now I need a bike for it. I can't use the MTB (29er and I don't want to fork out for the trainer thru axel adapter). Should I get a fixie or road bike for the trainer? Primary objective is to lose weight and get fitter. In that order. Would also like to use it with zwift / rouvy. I've purchased a speed sensor to make this possible. 99% chance that the bike will be stuck to the trainer and never leave the house. I've been looking at 2nd hand bikes. (old 3x9 road bike or a Rook One fixie)
  5. Those GS's are such awesome bikes. Cannot fault them. Super Comfy, amazing on long trips and on gravel. and the best part... you don't feel any wind. Just talking about it and seeing your pics makes me miss my gs
  6. Got out for a quick ride to test how the shoulder holds up on a ride. I think the vibrations has helped the healing process ????
  7. Looks beautiful and sounds beautiful.
  8. pretty loud, something like 103db i'm guessing. there was no rev bombing going on. Just start and left it for 5mins.
  9. Do any of you guys have issue with neighbors complaining about your bike noise? have dislocated my shoulder so started the bike up yesterday and let her idel for about 5mins. (first time the bike has been started in 2 weeks) an hour later i got a call from the guard that people are complaining about the bike noise.
  10. currently using the same ones from clicks.
  11. 1200 and standard screen. Tired low and high seat heights and all adjustable screen positions.
  12. Any Adventure bikers here? I sold the MV and bought a GS. 1st long ride yesterday, Pretty sure I've lost some hearing with the wind noise. Ear plugs helped but not by much. Any recommendations about the wind noise?
  13. Looks nice. Wouldn't mind one of those. always wanted an adventure bike and I miss my rc390.
  14. MV Agusta Brutale 800 Thanks
  15. I hear you on the predictable and bleh. I went looking for a gsxr600, predictable and bleh. Ended up with the MV. Stay awake or she will hurt you! MV has soul. It's like buying a Toyota or an Alfa... Both are predictable, the Toyota is reliable, the Alfa will break but the Toyota is bleh and the Alfa has soul... If you find one with a warranty, then go for it. If not, just be careful. If you are buying from a dealer then it;s fine as the CPA says that you get an automatic 6 month warranty.
  16. Thanks, I'm fairly new to biking. < 1 year. Started with a 250 Twister, then moved to a RC390 and now on the Brutale 800. Your mates looks like the Rivale. I actually love that numberplate holder over the rear wheel. His also looks like a much later model 2016-2018?, Mine is a 2014. Your GS is awesome. Love the colour. 1200? Planning on keeping the MV for 2 years, then will upgrade to a GS. Mine is also very quiet in low revs. It's only once you open that throttle, do you hear the sweet sound comes out those pipes. I'm not a speed freak on a bike. I cruise and sit behind traffic most days, it's only when the road is clear that i open her up sometimes.
  17. KTM = Keeps Taking Money! If you looking for something with cheap running costs then look Japanese. 2nd hand parts are easy to find. The KTM is perfect until something breaks. If it does, depending on what it is and who you get to fix is, could cost lots in the end. Running costs are around the same as anything else. Tires are Tires, Chains and sprockets are around the same price. I loved my RC390 but I bought it from someone who neglected to tell me that the engine case was cracked. 4 months and 25K later, I cut my losses and sold it as it is, with the oil leak. But I sleep well at night knowing that I was upfront and honest with the buyer about what is wrong.
  18. This be my ride.
  19. Not 100% sure, but 99% sure that you can do it yourself. If I am able to do it on my MV Agusta which is packed with electronics, then i'm sure you can do it on the ktm. It's usually just a combination of buttons.
  20. I found the opposite. Thought the parts on the 390 were pretty cheap apart from the piston. Head Gasket - R270 Brake Lever - R220 Tank Cap - R230 Bar Ends - R140 Piston, Rings, Head Gasket and Bottom Gasket - R4850
  21. Yes it does. No known problems as far as I know. Only issue I had was with the gear indicator but that was to do with the sensor on the shifter.
  22. Not sure about the BMW but that KTM in Parden Eiland is the most useless place on earth. If you are looking for something in a hurry, it's quicker to buy it from a KTM dealer in Jhb or Pretoria and have a courier send it down. I didn't think the parts were too expensive. Head Gasket was like R260. Piston with Head Gasket and bottom Gasket set me back R5200. (This was for a RC390 which is the same engine as a duke 390). In terms of service costs, an oil change cost me R1900.
  23. Have a look at the foresight. I think it's a nice replacement for the 14.
  24. M21 ? Foresight? Which M16 was it, 12, 13 or 14? Suppose that also depends on the suggestion to what to replace it with.
  25. Really? Cyclelab still sells them
