I believe the Geax tyres are nearly impossible to mount on the Stans. I'm running Schwalbe's with no problems

Have Sugaro and AKA Geax on 29er Crest rims, had no issue fitting them...

Sounds like a plan. Do you also struggle to get certain tyres on these? I've heard that some Stan's rims are pretty tough to get tyres on.

The rims are bomb proof. I weigh about 93kg fully kitted. The wheels are on a RIP9. Had trouble getting the Snakeskin Schwalbes to seat but a couple of extra tape runs sorted that out. Funnily enough I had no problems with the "normal" Schwalbes on.

Rims are built with nice, thick Sapim spokes. I would shy away from the Mavic's since the spokes are non-standard and I've seen quite a couple of rims crack where the nipple meets the spoke.

I'm running Arch rims with Hope Pro II Evo hubs for 6 months now. I'm 85kg riding a carbon hardtail 29er. I ride this bike hard and the wheelset and hub combination is perfect for me. YOu can get lighter and you can get cheaper but as an overall combination they're hard to beat.

This is what I am considering. I had the Pro II's on my 26er and I liked them.

What sort of price should I be looking at for a build like this?

I am thinking of a similar pair and came up with this:

Hope Pro 2 Evo hubs R 2,550.00 (@ CWC)

ZTR Arch EX rims R 1,800.00 (??)

Spokes R 960.00 (DT Swiss Comp)

Wheel build R 370.00 (may vary)

Hope QR15 adaptor R 200.00

Stan's Valves & Tape R 250.00

Total R 6,130.00
