You can't go wrong with a Cube. I bought the AMS100 for our daughter. Even though it is way too small I have taken it for a spin. I was amazed at the feel of the 100mm travel. It feels a lot more than that and pedalling efficiency made it feel very quick when you put the power down.

Hi doppelganger

Come down to Complete Cyclist in Randburg on Saturday morning. I will be there with test bikes, including the ACID 29er, Reaction Pro 29er and Elite HPC SL 29er.

You can ride it and feel the Agile Ride Geometry and how good it really is.

Darryl. Why don't you bring any of the AMS130 models into SA? I have helped "sell" a few Cubes but I reckon it would be a few more if you had a few of the longer travel AMS series. I know you have the Stereo but it can be a little too hardcore for some.

I also had a look at the Momsen. Very nice spec for the price if you ask me.

What size is your bike...maybe I will take it off your hands if you want something else :whistling:

Hahaha, I have a Large Frame, cannot remember the inch size off hand though. I wish I could sell the bike, but I will have to keep the Momsen until I find something else.

The Momsen is a nice bike, but it's nowhere near as good looking as the Cube

I have to agree, the only two momsen bikes I think are reasonably good looking are the SL range carbon fibres.

Yip I am only buying mine in August. So hopefully the new range will be out by then. Is it possible you can send me a couple of close up pics of the Momsen AL329, 'cause I haven't seen one in our bike shops around where I live. I would really appreaciate it?

I am very happy with it, did over 5000km on it before sending it in for a service.

I would just get rid of the Conti tyres on them and replace them with any other tubeless tyre.

Only thing i had to get used to was the wide handlebars. The Momsen's seem to have wider handlebars.

I think if you hang on a bit though they will be releasing there 2013 models in July / August.

Hi Lexx,

No problem at all, I'll see what I can organise this evening.

doppelganger,

Hahaha, I'll keep that in mind once I've window shopped this weekend.

I hope you find something  ....Seriously, I would consider the Momsen and if I can get it 2nd hand...all the better

I also like:

Giant Talon 0 29er

Merida Big Nine 500

With these bikes I can also afford a tubeless conversion...and Tubeless tires.

That looks just like the silverbacks.

About to get the 2012 Momsen AL529 any views guys?

Hijack off...

Good reviews just dont expect to have a light bike. its got a heavy frame so will always be on the heavier side.

Agreed.

The AL529 and the AL529 R-Type are both just under 12kg. But as mentioned earlier by TheV weight shouldn't put you off until you are on par with your weight and when looking for a budget bike.

Dont worry about the weight, it's not important. Start worrying about the weight when you are super fit and and your bodyweight/fat% is spot on.

Until then nothing else matters except that you: Like the brand, like the colour scheme, enjoy the ride, and have a suspension, drivetrain and brakest that works reliably and well.. that's most important...

Weight has gotten to be totally relative as far as im concerned i am use to a 10.2kg 26" dual sus, I now have a 12.8kg 29'er and paid a fortune for it, yes i could have gotten a much lighter 29'er for the same price, hell maybe even as low as 10.5kg-11kg.

On my heavier bike, ive never enjoyd riding more, Ive never been a better rider and I am shattering all my old times, and i am unfitter than I have ever been. Sometimes somwhere a bike comes along that just rides the way you want it, gives you what you need and does exactly what you expect it too.

In fact the 15k I have waiting around for upgrades have been lying around the bank account now for two months, I just simply dont see the need. The only time the weight penalty will get to me is if i have to do a epic, pioneer where there is a bit of "hike a bike" involved.

So no weight is not everything. I use to think it was, Now i realized i could have bought 40 year old whiskey instead of Titanium bolts and various other bits of carbon crap.

Wow, thanx for this. I will def see if I can make it! I am however unsure of my schedule at this stage.

If you can't make it this weekend let me know and we will make a plan.
