No, not financed. Thats how long he had planned to keep it for, it could be longer, that was one of the stipulations he made when pressing the wife double time to be able to get it in the first place.

It would be nice if you could just replace a bike whenever you feel the need.

You are fighting a battle if your other half doesn't ride because they just don't understand the diffs between forks which costs R5k or R1k.

That's why I'm so glad the wife not only rides but is someone who introduces others (especially ladies) to MTB. it wasn't always like that. I was a roadie when I met her but soon discovered mountain biking and she soon followed without any convincing. The daughter followed too but she needed some encouragement to go on short rides when she was 8. Now she rides more than I do.

The only problem in our family is that if one person upgrades, then the others want too. New Intense frames - had to buy two... KS drop posts - had to buy 3. Like some new shoes? Be prepared because the other two have had their eyes on new shoes for a while. sigh.

Thanks all for your input. I'm going to look at keeping the 575 and start building a 29'er - will be a nice little project to have and to learn more about how all the parts fit together.
