Hi All,

I'm building a set of 29er wheels, looking at Mavic TN719 or DT swissX470. I will be using Hope Pro 2 hubs.

I am 1.93m tall and about 86kg, mainly ride groenies, thaba, rietvlei etc and stage races like Joberg2c, 3 Towers etc

Does anyone have any experience with either of the above rims ?

I've heard from a few people that the ZTR rims are quite soft so please don't suggest them, thanks.

Currently riding with a set of Hopes laced up with DT Swiss rims, feels pretty solid. Also consider speaking to Ruan at http://www.spokeworks.co.za/ he can build up some wicked custom builds to your spec, also brings the White Industries hubs.

Btw, nothing wrong with the ZTR rims at all, damn good range of wheelsets for different kinds of riding.

Thanks for the feedback DD. I've never ridden the ZTRs, some people say they are brilliant and other say they're to soft, if I did look at ZTR I would say Arch EX but for now I'll stick to the Mavic or DT Swiss.

Thanks for the feedback Arendoog, the DT Swiss are 470g per rim and Mavic are 510g per rim, so no major difference.

The annoying thing is that there are no proper UST rims available for 29er, both would be made tubeless through a conversion kit, Mavic are only releasing their 29er UST rim for 2013. The only 29er wheelset that is UST is the Crossmax 29er and it is not compatible with the Syntace X12 rear axle so I can't use it.
