don't know if anyone followed runners on the Comrades Marathon, but you were able to follow up to 6 runners online all the time. It actually showed exactly on a map where they were and their finishing time immediatey. Perhaps some of our bigger race organisers should use these guys for the timing.

Why would the organizer want to fork out millions (for a race like the Argus) to supply each of the 40 000 riders with a gps tracking device ....when there are already free apps available like Endonmondo where you can do live tracking by using your cell phone?

Give your mates access to your Endomondo profile to track you live and bob is your auntie.

Agreed, sorry the thought process was more a case of the time available immediately as people finished and not the waiting period and errors we sometimes see with championschip and raetec. Having said all this though, as I dont run, I don't know how many mistakes and none finish results come from the comrades.

6 of us rode beside the front 3 males, and the front 3 females. We each had transponders on our bikes to allow 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to be tracked by the organizers.
