DH protective gear, where do you get yours?

If you need gear for Downhill then I seriously recommend getting a full body armour suit rather than only armpads. The shoulder pads alone gets "used" a lot and im sure it has prevented me from getting injured a couple of times now. If you get a long sleeve one then u wont need to buy arm/elbow protection seperately.

Get one with a removable back protector so you can use it with a camelback if you need to. It will cools the thing down a lot. Both the Thor Impact rig and 661 Vapor suit allows for the back protector to be removed.

geesh! those i-Mas specials are awesome! Can one buy online and get delivered to JHB... or do i have to wait until you go down there again?

They do do online orders and I think charge R40 for postage.

I've had issues in the past of them not replying to e-mails & not answering their phone :cursing:

Let me know if you manage to place an order.

I'm thinking some kits for france! I don't have enough DH kits for the trip, and I can't be cruising around in t-shirt and baggies like I do here

Why not? Haha. You can get over there. It's not cheap but if you factor in the duty and postage it's cheaper than here. And you get to try the stuff on. And there's loads of variety. And you'll see brands that we never see here. like Sombrio and Kenny.

Grebel... if you know how the Race Face stuff fits... here's a good local online option for bargain gear

So I oredered my pads on Wednesday afternoon and they arrived on Thursday  Decided to go for the knee-shin pads after seeing the damage caused by only wearing knee pads....

Bought these Raceface elbow and knee/shin pads (Black with the blue logo for both):

Nice Grebel! Very nice!

Thanks patches! I am hoping to add to the collection and hopefully see exactly where the limits of my trail bike are.... until I can get my hands on a DH steed!

Thanks Nige. I am not sure about tomorrow. There are some family plans for tomorrow. I might be joining the Philogenes on Sunday afternoon though... Will do a few sighting runs on the Mongoose just to get the feel for the track. I won't have all the gear either. Might borrow an MX lid from Mark. I'm a little bit concerned about the part after the Quarry table top... We battled to walk down there after the last race...

Grebel - I will be at Giba tomorrow and Sunday for my sons BMX Nationals. I will take your shirt and goggles. Come see me in the pits and i will give them to you.

Thanks! I will see you there probably on Sunday.
